1927 Planlagt bygget ved Nylands Verksted, men grunnet arbeidskonflikt våren 1927 ble denne ikke påbegynt, men utsatt til året etter. I stedet ble det bestilt en hvalbåt ved Kaldnæs mek. Verksted.
Bygget som hvalbåten STAR X ved Kaldnæs mek. Verksted, Tønsberg for Hvalfanger-A/S Rosshavet (Johan Rasmussen og Magnus Konow), Sandefjord. Utstyrt med oljefyring og kunstig trekk samt trådløs telefoni. Sjøsatt 15/07 og overlevert 29/08-1927.
Satt i fangst for kokeriet SIR JAMES CLARK ROSS (I)(uten opphalingsslipp) sesongen 1927/28. Fangstbestyrer var G. Thorstensen. På vei til feltet anløp Colombo sammen med den nybygde STAR IX 04/10 for bunkers. Sammen kostet disse to nye hvalbåter kr. 840.000 ved levering
1928 Fangstsesongen 1927/28 resulterte i 48.000 fat.
Deltar i sesongen 1928/29 som fangstbåt for SIR JAMES CLARK ROSS. Fangstbestyrer var G. Thorstensen.
1929 Fangstsesongen 1928/29 resulterte i 50.000 fat.

1936 Solgt til Blaahval A/S (Anders Jahre), Sandefjord. Omdøpt HVAL I. Satt inn som fangstbåt for C. A. LARSEN. Totalt 6 fangstbåter deltar i sesongen 1936/37.
1937 Fungerer som fangstbåt for kokeriet ULYSSES på kysten av Australia i Shark Bay i sommersesongen. Skytter er Daniel Hansen.
1938 Solgt til A/S Kosmos (Anders Jahre & Co), Sandefjord. Omdøpt KOS III. Navnet HVAL I kom tilbake etter kort tid. Benyttet som bøyebåt for kokeriet ULYSSES i Sydishavet sesongen 1938/39 under navnet HVAL I. Gustav Sørensen var skytter.
1939 Benyttet som bøyebåt for kokeriet ULYSSES i Sydishavet sesongen 1939/40. Gustav Sørensen var skytter. Sesongen startet 29/12. Fangstbestyrer var Hans Mikkelsen.
1940 Sesongen 1939/40 avsluttes 08/03. Fangsten var 979 hval som ga en produksjon på 58.480 fat hvalolje og 2.520 fat spermolje.
Satt inn i tjeneste for den engelske marine (Syd-Afrika)(RN) som patrulje fartøy under navnet HMSAS ORYX i september.
1941 Benyttet som minesveiper.
1943 Omdøpt til HMSAS GEMSBUCK i desember.
1945 Returnert til eierne igjen og omdøpt HVAL I
1947 Utleid som fangstbåt for hvalstasjonen til Francisco Marcelino dos Reis Lda, Lisboa, Portugal. Fanger ut fra Setubal. Beholder navnet. (Dette firma var også etablert på Azorene hvor det drev hvalfangst helt frem til 1976)
1948 Solgt til A/S Setubal (Morten Fladmark), Sandefjord. Fremdeles utleid til Francisco Marcelino dos Reis Lda, Lisboa
1949 I fangst utenfor Setubal for Francisco Marcelino dos Reis Lda, Lisboa.
1950 I fangst utenfor Setubal for Francisco Marcelino dos Reis Lda, Lisboa.
Ankom Sandefjord i mai sammen med HVAL 4 for utrustning og proviantering for fangst ved Island.

1955 Solgt til Francisco Marcelino dos Reis, Lisboa, Portugal. Skifter navn fra HVAL I til NOVO PERSISTENCIA.
1927 The catcher was planned built at Nylands Verksted, but due to a labour dispute in the spring of 1927, this was not started, but postponed until the following year. Instead, a new whale catcher was ordered at Kaldnæs mek. Verksted.
Built as whale catcher STAR X at Kaldnæs mek. Verksted, Tønsberg for Hvalfanger-A/S Rosshavet (Johan Rasmussen and Magnus Konow), Sandefjord. Equipped with oil fired boiler with artificial draught as well as wireless telephony. Launched 15/07 and delivered 29/08-1927.

The factory ship Fl/F SIR JAMES CLARK ROSS is sold this summer.
1936 STAR X sold to Hvalfangerselskapet Blaahval A/S (Anders Jahre), Sandefjord. Reamed HVAL I. Used as catcher for floating factory C. A. LARSEN. Totally 6 catchers participated for the expedition in season of 1936/37.
1937 Used as catchers for the factory ULYSSES during whaling in Shark Bay of Australia in the summer season. Gunner was Daniel Hansen.
1938 Sold to A/S Kosmos (Anders Jahre & Co), Sandefjord. Renamed as KOS III. The name HVAL I was again used after a short time. Used as buoy boat during pelagic whaling in the Southern seas for factory ULYSSES for the season of 1938/39. Renamed HVAL I. Gustav Sørensen was the gunner.
1939 Used as buoy boat for factory ship ULYSSES during 1939/40 season. Gustav Sørensen was the gunner. The whaling season commenced 29/12. Whaling manager was Mr. Hans Mikkelsen.
1940 The season 1939/40 ended 08/03. The catch was 979 whales giving a production of 58.480 barrels of whale oil and 2.520 barrels of sperm oil.
Hired by the British Royal Navy for South Africa as patrol vessel under the name of HMS ORYX in September.
1941 Used as minesweeper.
1943 Changed name to GEMSBUCK during December.
1945 Returned to owners and again called HVAL I
1947 Hired as catcher for the shore station of Setubal for the company Francisco Marcelino dos Reis Lda, Lisbon, Portugal. Kept her name. (This company was also established at in the Azores, from around 1941 to 1976.)
1948 Sold to A/S Setubal (Morten Fladmark), Sandefjord. Still hired as catcher to company Francisco Marcelino dos Reis Lda, Lisbon. The catch was executed by HVAL I and two converted tugs took hand of the whales and brought them to the whaling station.
