1978 Built as multipurpose/cargoliner THOR I by Mitsui Shipbuilding & Engineering Co Ltd, Tamano, Japan for A/S Ørnen (A/S Thor Dahl), Sandefjord. Keel laid on 06/07-1977, launched on 13/09-1977 and delivered on 31/01-78. Maiden voyage from Japan to Arabian Gulf with a load of cars, before she started her service for the Christensen Canadian African Line (CCAL) from East African ports. Tuesday 31st of January godmother Mrs Lillemor Svenning gave her the name THOR I. A well known and successful name in the companies fleet through many years. It's the fouth time the name has been used. The first time was on Whaling factory THOR I in 1910. After the delivery of THOR I, the company Thor Dahl had totally built 11 ships at Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, where 4 off in Tomano. The first ship was built in 1965, all together totally 4 dry cargo vessels and 7 tankers. 1990 Sold/transferred to Monte Shipping Inc.(A/S Thor Dahl Shipping), registered in Monrovia, Liberia. 1994 Sold/transferred to Xinet Pte., Ltd., (A/S Thor Dahl Shipping), Singapore registered in Singapore. 1999 ASP Ship Management Singapore became managers. 2000 Renamed 12/05 to BNC THOR. Same owner. Sold 13/06 the same year to Jaya Holdings Ltd., Singapore. Omdøpt til JAYA SUN. 2001 Sold on 18/06-2001 to Privat Link Ltd., Hong Kong, China (Orient Marine (Singapore), managers), Singapore. Renamed 08/10 to SAFINAZ. Re-registered 15/10 to Kingstown, St. Vincent and Grenadines. Suez Crown Trading Pte. Ltd., Rangoon, Burma became managers 15/10. 2005 Re-registered 01/08-2005 to Hong Kong, China. 2008 Re-registered 07/07-2008 to Panama. Suspended 04/11 the same year from Germanischer Lloyd. Sold same year for breaking at USD 220/t to Pakistani breakers. Beached at Gadani Beach on 04/12-2008.
